Looselay Vinyl Plank: Everything You Should Know!

Have you heard of Loose Lay Vinyl Plank? You haven't?! I'm not shocked, it's possibly the most undermarketed type of Vinyl flooring around, most companies that make a Click-Together option also make a Loose-Lay option as well, some manufacturers have even gotten wise and started making both Loose-Lay and Click Vinyl in the same colour but the styles are intended for different area's in the home, there's a few companies we carry that are standing firm on just carrying Looselay.

In this Blog post we'll go through some reason's we think Looselay Vinyl Plank might be something you should know about!

Modularity is a fantastic starting point when talking about Looselay Vinyl Plank, due to it's individualized construction Looselay Vinyl Plank a free sitting product, meaning it's sitting independently from the surrounding pieces making it modular and super easy to repair should one individual plank get damaged, they achieve the necessary structural integrity in a few ways (please see the graphic below) two of which being a fiber glass mesh (or occasionally sheet) inlayed, and the planks are shipped with a light convex so when being installed they settle into each other creating a nice tight seal water really has to fight to get through!

Do you consider yourself a handy person? Because if so this is very much a product to look at! It's super easy for you to install yourself, but I wouldn't let the moniker of Looselay fool you, even though you can install this without Glue we'd likely recommend at least a perimeter glue (a 6" wide strip starting about a 1/4" from the wall would suffice) and as long as your first row starts on the glue you're off to the races! Looselay Vinyl Plank is very flexible and can easily roll over any minor imperfections in the levelness of your subfloor, though we'd also recommend you go through your entire install area with a skim coat as well.

Another perk of Looselay Vinyl Plank is that it make for a very quick install, when you're not constantly fighting with a click system, or the flatness of the floor and can literally just drop a plank on the floor it makes for a pretty quick install, you'll probably end up with less waste at the end of your flooring job too!
